Two new floors added a Grade II Listed house

A grade II listed Georgian house in Highgate had two new floors added. Asked to carry out a modest basement refurbishment below a two-storey house in The Grove, Highgate, Jonathan Freegard Architects realised that the building did indeed once have two additional storeys. Planning and Listed Building consent to reinstate these storeys and the original central front door was granted despite objections from local residents. The clients embraced the new proposals and immediately commissioned us to carry them out, not least because this added more than four times the cost of carrying out the work to the value of the house – or more than thirty times the fees charged.
