Once contacted (by phone or email) we would have an initial discussion on what services are required and would normally make a ‘no obligation’ site visit to give preliminary advice on the prospects for the project. To avoid unnecessary expense we might begin with a sketch scheme or photomontage for a fixed fee and discuss it with the planners. This also allows the client to see how we work and assess our general design approach before taking things further.
Our clients have included private individuals, developers, local authorities, arts institutions, schools and charities. We have completed 14 residential projects for barristers at the same chambers, all passed on by recommendation.
Although we can provide much of the advice including cost estimating for smaller projects ourselves, we usually advise the appointment of a quantity surveyor for larger or more complex projects. We regularly work with teams of structural and services engineers, landscape consultants and party wall surveyors and can advise on their appointment where necessary.
